New Visual Calculator for SansGUI Holiday Free Offer

Bolingbrook, IL., December 11, 2001 (www.protodesign-inc.com) - ProtoDesign, Inc. today announces the release of Visual Calculator for SansGUI version 1.0 and a free offer of the SansGUI Run-Time Environment.  Visual Calculator for SansGUI has been created to demonstrate some fundamental capabilities of the SansGUI Modeling and Simulation Environment.  It includes a set of model building blocks that implement simple arithmetic operators and functions.  Mathematical expressions are represented by network flow diagrams and executed by the underlying code in the model building blocks.  It is quite different from traditional calculator programs which employ either a physical calculator or a
spreadsheet metaphor.  Visual Calculator for SansGUI was developed using the SansGUI Development Environment to take advantage of its object-oriented modeling and simulation features.  Full source code in two independent implementations, one in Microsoft Visual C++ and the other in Compaq Visual Fortran, are included along with an on-line documentation, explaining how the calculator was created in details.  Developers are encouraged to extend the code to create full-featured scientific, engineering, statistical, or business calculators.

Visual Calculator for SansGUI is available immediately and is free of charge from ProtoDesign, Inc.  It requires the SansGUI Run-Time Environment to run on Microsoft Windows platforms.  The SansGUI Run-Time Environment provides users with a highly interactive modeling and simulation environment to configure models, enter data, run simulations, examine and plot simulation results from supporting simulators.  For this holiday season, ProtoDesign, Inc. offers one free perpetual SansGUI Run-Time version 1.0 license for each registered user.  No purchase is necessary.  This offer is limited to users who download the software from ProtoDesign's web site and will be ended on January 10, 2002.  A retail SansGUI Run-Time Edition, including the SansGUI software, Unit Conversion for SansGUI, Visual Calculator for SansGUI, and a printed SansGUI Getting Started guide can be purchased directly from ProtoDesign's on-line store for US$49.  The SansGUI Professional Edition costs US$899 per license for commercial users and US$299 per license for qualified educational users.  A Student Edition is also available for US$99.
